Bloomberg didn't print the statement. The Toronto Star did. He hasn't said anything about that.
Why should Bloomberg apologize?
And why is he keeping it in the news by tweeting about it again this morning?
This morning:
Yes, poor, poor America. We've been so kept down.
Ye gods! We certainly hope it's become part of the adversary system. That's what it used to be. That's what it's supposed to be. Afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. Hold the powerful to count.
P.S. Actually, it was a Canadian reporter who printed the slams on Canada - in the Toronto Star.
Also, by leaking his remarks, he gets to harp on his favorite subject: the news can't be trusted. Plus, he gets to flaunt his disdain for Trudeau. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was planned and dropped by the Trump team. Especially since his original tweet said, "Oh well, just more dishonest reporting. I am used to it. At least Canada knows where I stand!"
We don't know if he commonly asks for things to be off the record in the middle of an interview, but somehow, I doubt it.
UPDATE 9/5:
A conversation with the Star reporter.
