Dear, Oh Dear

The Obama administration is facing a breakdown in confidence from key allies over secret surveillance programmes that reportedly installed the covert listening devices in EU offices.

Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland, reporting from Paris, said that several European governments had called for more clarification and information.

She added that if the allegations were proven to be true, they could hurt the ongoing EU trade deal negotiations with the US and the trans-Atlantic alliance.

A German government spokesman said Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to discuss the allegations with US President Barack Obama.

Let me guess what Obama’s response to these PRISM leaks will ultimately be: he’ll take it upon himself to personally approve each request for information collection. You know, like the kill list he personally examines and approves. And we all know what a good man he is, so we’ll be satisfied that everything is right. Just like we apparently are with the kill list. 

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
