Not Only Are They an Unnecessary Invasion of Privacy

Apparently the full body scanners our government has spent oodles of money on are also totally ineffective if only a terrorist straps his gun to his side instead of wearing it front or back. The machines show the human body as light, and the metallic objects as dark.  The background is also dark.  Therefore, if the metallic object is at the side of the body, it doesn't show up on the screen.  Apparently, Israel knew this and refused to buy the things. Apparently TSA knew this, too, but we do need to support the "defense" industry with our tax dollars.

The next time you hear someone at an airport say, "I don't mind, because it makes us safer," tell them about the gaping flaw.

Myself, I can't understand why they didn't just add a simple metal detector to the machines.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
