Did you approach Tom Toles about the origin of his cartoon? May just be a harmless "great minds think alike" scenario as the Charlie Brown and Lucy football dynamic is a well known metaphor just like sisyphus pushing the boulder up the hill...That being said, I happen to be a bigger fan of the photoshopping the actual heads on the actual characters though you probably run into copyright issues =]
