Congratulations, Alabama!

In fact, Your Assiness, the "write in votes" are an indication that even some Republicans couldn't stomach being represented by your candidate. A loss is a loss.  And it was a big deal.  This is the first Alabama Democrat in the Senate in 25 years.

I guess I should be appreciating the fact that the asshole is congratulating Jones.

And what a teling blow this was:
In a race filled with extraordinary moments, one came just before voters went to the polls, when Sen. Richard Shelby, Alabama's long-serving Republican senator, announced he could not support his party's nominee. "I try to get along with everybody," he told reporters in the Capitol. "I know Roy Moore but I'll tell you, I didn’t vote for him."

It was close.  And there's one less Republican to vote for hideous things like the Trump Tax Plan.  Let the backlash begin.

And she's a Republican.

UPDATE:

Good point.

FURTHER UPDATE:

THE FUCK?!

UPDATE:

It seems that Alabama itself doesn't formalize the election results until after Congress has gone into recess.  It also seems that McConnell will be desperate to bring the tax bill to a vote before that. Especially now that Jones won.
In the Capitol, the Republicans’ sweeping tax bill will not likely be affected by the result in Alabama. A vote on the legislation is planned next week before Alabama results are certified, about two weeksbefore Jones is scheduled to be sworn into office.
