Barr in a box

President Trump on Thursday criticized Attorney General William Barr, accusing the head of the Justice Department of not thoroughly examining debunked claims of widespread voter fraud.

When asked whether he still had confidence in Barr, a Trump ally who has in the past taken what critics describe as an unusually political role in the Justice Department, the president said: "Ask me that in a number of weeks from now."

Earlier this week, Barr told The Associated Press that the Justice Department found no evidence of widespread fraud in this year's election, directly contradicting the president's claims.

Trump on Thursday said: "They should be looking at all of this fraud. This is not civil. This is criminal stuff. This is very bad criminal stuff."

"A number of weeks." That might imply the end of Trump's term, which would imply he's going to chop Barr from his second term, which he still thinks he's going to get. What other meaning might it carry? At least it doesn't sound like he's going to fire Barr soon.
Sources familiar with the matter told the networks that when Barr visited the White House on Tuesday for a pre-scheduled meeting with chief of staff Mark Meadows, Trump sought to speak with the attorney general once he was there.

The meeting took place came shortly after The Associated Press published its interview with him, in which he said, “To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election.”

One source told ABC News that the Trump-Barr conversation was “intense” but would not give further details.

“He hasn’t done anything, so he hasn’t looked. When he looks he’ll see the kind of evidence that right now you are seeing in the Georgia senate. They are going through hearings right now in Georgia and they are finding tremendous volumes,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “So, they haven’t looked very hard. Which is a disappointment, to be honest with you, because it's massive fraud.”

Can't recall where I saw it, but somebody said the meeting was intense, but Trump wasn't screaming. LOL.
In addressing questions about Barr’s comments at Wednesday’s news conference, [White House spokesperson Kayleigh] McEnany said Barr was also seeking to draw a distinction between “the use of the federal criminal justice system with allegations that should be made in civil lawsuits.”

“And the campaign’s litigation is all civil ligation, which is apart from something that the DOJ would be involved in,” she said.
She must have said that before Trump said it was "very bad criminal stuff."

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
