Sorry, No - Part 2

I respect economist Billmon and trust his judgment for the most part (except when he gets scared, which he is now).  But I have to part ways with him for his insistence that we can't afford not to vote for Hillary Clinton, even though we don't want her for president, as he himself doesn't.

So who's deluded? Of course it matters. But not in the way Billmon is implying: that it doesn't matter whether we get Trump or Clinton. (And I'd allow people to argue even that point.)

For all those people squealing that the presidential race is too close and Trump too heinous to be allowed to win, so that only someone with a death wish would choose to vote third party and risk that eventuality, here's my response:

The whole reason Trump has managed to be where he is today is because our election system is crap, ever since the two major parties have rigged everything to keep third party candidates out of the running.

If we can't vote our conscience this election, then when can we?  Next election?  Sure.  And next election, an even worse monster than Trump will be one of the two party candidates, as Billmon himself argues in points 3, 4 & 5, because Trump's run this election has "normalized" racism and hate politics.  And Clinton's campaign has "normalized" slime politics.  So, next time, if there is a next time considering how these two insane fuck-ups are talking, the stakes will be even higher, and we'll still have a choice between two honestly evil candidates.

I agree with Billmon's points, just not his conclusion.

Stop and realize that it is you who vote the lesser of two evils who are destroying this country.  You're how we got here. Not third party voters.

We heard these same scare arguments when the choice was George W Bush  or Al Gore, but at least Al Gore might have been sane.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

Yes. Yes we have.
