Either he is ill-served by his lawyers, or they are powerless to stop him. Or both, because I'm certain the latter applies.
Well, maybe McGahn didn't know. I'm pretty sure the Trump family are lying to their attorneys.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
UPDATE:
I missed this aspect of the tweet (it may very well be his ticket to the pokey - or at least impeachment):
UPDATE:
Dude's gonna need some time to think about this one.Trump's tweet indicates he knew that Flynn lied to the FBI when he fired him, but that wasn't reported by The Washington Post until three days after his dismissal.
[...]
The White House press office referred questions to Trump's lawyer, Ty Cobb, who didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

We will indeed.Trump said Saturday that he’s not worried about what Flynn would disclose as part of his plea deal with Mueller’s team. Asked if he stands by his former national security adviser, Trump said, “We’ll see what happens.”
He famously said he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and not suffer any loss of support, but that doesn't mean he's not also clueless. If he's counting on Republicans in Congress, he may be unduly confident there. This is going to get so bad for the GOP. I know they're a bunch of slimeballs, but not acting on what Mueller is undoubtedly going to eventually hand them could be a step too far even for them."This tweet certainly contributes to the case. He knew Flynn lied to the FBI when he pressed Comey to drop the case and then fired Comey," Yeomans said. "Mostly disturbingly, however, the tweet shows either that the president is utterly clueless about his own jeopardy or he truly believes he is beyond accountability because neither his base nor Republicans in Congress will hold him responsible."

UPDATE: Unbelievable! They're now trying to say Trump's lawyer authored that tweet. Nobody but him has ever authored his tweets.
