Trump is delivering an extreme speech: "On every front, the ultra-left is waging war on the values shared by everyone in this room ... They are trying to use the courts to rewrite the laws, undermine democracy, and force through an agenda they cannot pass at the ballot box."
Also, he's reading.
When he's not ad-libbing...
"Other countries are looking at us, like, what the hell is going on in the United States?" -- this is true but not in the way Trump thinks
Trump totally makes stuff up about Nancy Pelosi, then says of her, "not a good person, and I think she hates our country." Trump threatens to sue Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff and then says, "or maybe we should just impeach them."
Trump tells an Orwellian lie, says Schiff only paraphrased his testimony during a hearing because "he never thought that I was going to release the transcript" of the Ukraine call. In fact, the hearing happened *after* the White House memo was released.
To be fair, they are cheering every nasty, Trumpian thing he says. Their values are obvious. And one of them is not decency.
TRUMP: "Socialism is obsessed with the pursuit of power because it has replaced religion with government. When you look at some of the things that they're in favor of, it's like, it's like, anything -- nobody's ever seen anything like it."
He's not joking.
"You have to take them back or we are going to let them go right on your damn border" -- Trump says he called French and German leaders and threatened to release ISIS fighters in their counties
Trump on people living in Afghanistan (and by implication other Middle Eastern countries too): "They fight. That's what they do. They fight ... Tony wants to go watch a football game. I want to go do things. They want to come out and fight. That's what they do."
I'm admittedly not a theological but that didn't seem to be a particularly Christian display by Trump or the people who uproariously cheered for him during that speech. #ValuesVoterSummit
