Meanwhile, in Gaza

Khuzaa was devastated by Israeli bombardment, as the military levelled whole streets and flattened mosques.

Hamas is insisting Israel pay the reconstruction costs, as the town's displaced wait for help.

Good luck on that wish.
Thousands of people have gathered in Tel Aviv to protest the extension of a truce between the Israeli military and Hamas in Gaza.

Many are from southern Israeli towns along the border where rockets from Gaza often land.

They say the Egyptian proposal to secure a more permanent truce threatens their security.
Jesus Christ, a truce won’t make them safe, I suppose. Only wiping out the entirety of Gaza.
A fragile ceasefire extension between Hamas and Israel has entered its second day, despite a rocky start which saw a flurry of rocket fire and air strikes.

Israeli jets hit the Gaza strip with four air strikes after the new truce came into effect on midnight, after alleged Palestinian rocket fire, which saw three missiles fired.

Palestinian security officials told the AFP news agency the skies fell silent at around 3:00 am (0000 GMT).

The Egyptian foreign ministry said both sides had agreed to extend the ceasefire for five days to allow more time for thorny negotiations.
They agreed to a ceasefire and then kept firing.
The fighting in Gaza has devastated the besieged territory's agricultural capability, with damage to crops, herds, fishing, and irrigation systems, bringing food production to a halt and sending porices rocketing.

The United Nations food body, the Food and Agriculture Organisations said on Thursday that virtually the entire local population of about 1.8 million was dependent on food aid and significant long term help would be needed for farms to recover. [Reuters]

"Occupy Gaza now!" placards were seen in the crowd, as the IDF claims Hamas has launched more than 3,500 rockets since beginning of the Israeli campaign, killing three civilians.

Somebody remind me how many thousands of Palestinians have been killed by the Israel bombardment. And how many tens of thousands – hundreds of thousands – have been turned into refugees with no home and no food.
[...] at least 1,962 Palestinians dead - most of them civilians, including women and children [...]
Thanks.

Tel Aviv a few days ago:
Ignoring police orders to call off the large-scale protest due to the continuing rocket fire in the south, hundreds of left-wing activists gathered in Rabin Square on Saturday demanding an end to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

Citing the resumption of hostilities on the Gaza front, police officials informed organizers of an anti-war demonstration in Tel Aviv scheduled for Saturday evening that the event cannot be held due to the public safety risk.

What, no public safety issue?
