The "big story" is that our president is an ignorant asshole who is singular proof of the Peter Principle.
The "unmasking and surveillance" was simply how the government's surveillance system works. It wasn't something different and special for just the Trump's team contact with the Russians. If his team was too ignorant to realize that, the "big story" includes them, too.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
