Trump's China Ambassador Named

Terry Branstad, Governor of Iowa. And boy, does he have his work cut out for him.

Branstad is uniquely well-suited to the job, having a close, decades-long relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two have known each other since 1985, when Xi visited Iowa as a provincial official on a state exchange program during Branstad's first term as governor, and have maintained a friendship of sorts -- Xi met with Branstad during a visit to the US in 2012 as a vice-president on the verge of taking power in China.

That will be the least of the qualifications he's going to need.

GUILDENSTERN: But we don't know what's going on, or what to do with ourselves. We don't know how to act.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
