Yet Another Story of Children & Guns Tragedies

Right. That's why she was shopping at Walmart and carrying a gun (loaded and presumably without the safety on) in her purse.

Reading the "fine print" - she was a chemistry graduate of the University of Idaho and researcher at the Idaho National Laboratory.  Apparently, that now qualifies you as a "successful nuclear scientist."
“She was very competent,” said [mayor Paul] Loomis. “This is not somebody that is just a nut, let me tell you.”

I’m going to have to question the competence assessment, but would it be okay if she were “just a nut?”
This year, the[Idaho] legislature passed a law allowing concealed guns onto public college and university campuses, despite opposition from all eight of the state’s university presidents, the Idaho Statesman reported.

“Our concern is not a political concern about gun control,” said Loomis. “Our concern right now is for the welfare of that family.”
Too bad your concern wasn’t in effect when you passed your gun laws.

What a terrible thing to be hanging over the rest of the life of that child.  I wonder if there's any research into the lives and fates of children who accidentally shoot a family member or friend.
